A late goal by Paul Ennis was enough to give FC United of Manchester a narrow 3-2 win against Ossett United in Tuesday night’s pre-season friendly match at Ingfield.

In a competitive match, the opening goal had come after just eight minutes, home full back JACK VANN having been allowed to head home unopposed at the far post from an early Ossett corner.

On 14 minutes, FC United drew level, Nialle Rodney setting up CRAIG CARNEY who finished clinically with a low hard shot.

On 53 minutes, it was 2-1 to the visitors, CRAIG CARNEY sent in a floated cross that somehow eluded everyone before finding the back of the net, Mike Donohue possibly getting the final touch before the ball crossed the line.

On 63 minutes, Ossett United drew level as former fans favourite Tom Greaves took advantage of Paddy Wharton’s attempted clearance being blocked by him to then walk the loose ball into the unguarded FC United goal.

Just as it looked as if the game might finish in a 2-2 draw, the decisive goal came in the first minute of time added on as PAUL ENNIS ran in at goal, before evading a lunging tackle and deftly steering the ball past Brett Souter in the Ossett United goal.

FC United of Manchester conclude their pre-season programme with a public training session on the Broadhurst Park main stadium pitch on Saturday 10th August 2019 (3 pm KO).
