FC United draw away at bottom club North Ferriby
FC United followed up the nine man victory over Stockport County with a 3-3 draw at bottom club North Ferriby on a rainy Saturday in East Yorkshire.

The home side had brought in a couple of loanees from league club Rotherham and FC United also had a couple of new boys making their debuts in Sefton Gonzales and Tom Walker.

It was Walker and Gonzales who linked well for the game’s opening chance on four minutes when the former played in the latter but his shot was save by Ross Durrant.

Steve Irwin was continuing his recent good form, he had two shots well saved by Durrant before the Reds took the lead on 42 minutes. Walker was played in behind The Villagers defence and he shot past Durrant into the far corner.

The lead was to last a matter of seconds as a lapse in the FC United defence let in one of Ferriby’s loan players, Kuda Muskwe who ran into the FC box and slotted past Lloyd Allinson.

Eleven minutes into the second period, Ferriby took the lead with a free-kick from skipper Steven Brogan beating Allinson in the FC goal. On the hour mark, Tom Greaves looked to have restored parity when he was played in and rounded Durrant but his shot was cleared off the line.

Greaves did get his goal three minutes later when his overhead kick from a pinpoint Joel Senior cross found its way into the net via the crossbar and the keeper.

Ten minutes later, Irwin scored a world class goal when his screamer from 25 yards flew into the top corner of the net.

As time was starting to run out, it seemed this would be the winner but Ferriby had other ideas and they equalised with five minutes on the clock when a cross from the right was volleyed home superbly by Muskwe.

A minute later, Mike Conner let fly from distance but the ball deflected over off the head of a defender when it looked as if the ball was flying into the same corner that Irwin had found 13 minutes earlier.

FC United will be disappointed not to leave Grange Lane with all three points, especially after holding the lead on two occasions but a point away from home is another step in the right direction.
